Addu Atoll has a number of educational institutions; kindergartens (nursery schools), primary and secondary schools as well as a college campus. Most residents complete their education up to Ordinary Level on the island itself, whilst a few opt to continue their studies in Malé or abroad. Maldives has a high literacy rate at 98%. All students who complete the secondary level will sit for Cambridge Ordinary level Exam. A certain number of youngsters from neighboring islands, mainly from Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Feydhoo attend Sharafudhdheen School,a secondary school on Hithaadhoo, to complete their O-level studies. Several students from other atolls like Fuvahmulah attend secondary schools on Hithadhoo.
